Wall Application Instructions

Vinyl Wall Application Instructions

Think of your vinyl sheet made up of three layers. (1) The top layer or the transfer tape, (2) the middle layer which is the vinyl lettering and (3) the bottom layer or the waxy backing paper.
(If your order has been shipped, gently press the vinyl sheet flat before proceeding with instructions)

WAIT 2 WEEKS TO APPLY TO FRESHLY PAINTED WALLS!

Step #1 - Using a yardstick, draw a line on the transfer tape from the left arrow to the right arrow. If you have multiple sheets, this is only on sheet #1.

Step #2 – Take your scraper / credit card and rub the decal around each letter paying particular attention to the edges.

Step #3 – Level your design. Place a level on the line you just drew and straighten the decal to be level. Using painter’s tape, tape your decal to the wall in a hinge type method.

Step #4 –Trace the four corners of your design onto the wall.

Step #5 – While keeping your design taped to the wall, lift your hinged design up and gently peel the corner of the backing paper from the transfer tape, being careful to not leave any letters behind. If lettering is not releasing from backing paper, remove design from wall and burnish again. Replace design on wall using corner tracing marks.

Step #6 – Gently lay the design onto the wall, being careful of the static that is generated. Once on the wall, gently smooth from the center of the design outward.

Step #7 – Burnish. Take your scraper / credit card and rub the decal around each letter paying particular attention to the edges.

Step #8 – Starting in the corner, gently and slowly peel the tape from the wall at a 45* angle. If any of the lettering lifts, just replace the tape and rub with your finger until it sticks and move onward slowly.

Step #9 - Once tape is removed, erase your corner tracing marks and remove the arrows. If your quote is multi-sheet, DO NOT remove the diamond shapes (registration marks) until whole quote is on wall. See additional instructions on decal itself.

Some helpful tips:

Using a squeegee is going to work better than using a credit card to rub your decal. Order one here

~      If design is larger than 24”, use 2 people
~      PATIENCE IS IMPERATIVE this is not just a “peel and stick” project
~      For textured walls, roll a tennis ball over design to help letters adhere.

Removal: When it comes time to remove your vinyl lettering, remember that the heat of a blow dryer will soften the vinyl and make it easier to peel off.
